Colbert on the ERT is Stephen's late night radio show in which he continues his punditry from midnight to 3 AM, every night after The Colbert Report. On the April 5, 2007 edition of Colbert on the ERT Stephen, in the course of commenting on the graphics used for the Final Four program, uttered some ethnic slurs insulting Hungarians, for which he received a bunch of criticism. Well critics, we live in America where we have free speech. And free speech means never having to say you're sorry to Hungarians, unless they rock your world and offer you one kickass guitar. Seriously, if I was offered that guitar, I would apologize for Stephen's comments, even though I didn't make them. That was one sweet axe.

On October 8, 2007 Stephen said People from Uruguay are human garbage. Taken out of context, this could sound bad. But the context is: No one from Uruguay listens to his show (it is up against Good Morning Montevideo).Episode #320
