Nan Elmoth was a forest in the East Beleriand east of Doriath and south of the River Celon. The trees grew here to be the tallest and darkest in the Beleriand, blocking the Sun entirely from the forest floor.

Thingol spotkał tam śpiewającą Melianę i ją pokochał, pozwolił też Eölowi zamieszkać w puszczy w zamian za miecz Anglachel. Ciemny Elf pojął za żonę Aredhelę, która powiła mu syna - Maeglina.

- Eol's House Melian's Glade
- Nan Elmoth (Sindarin: Tal des Sternendämmers) war ein Wald in Ost-Beleriand, nahe am Ostufer des Celon und ein Stück oberhalb von Estolad. Unter diesen riesigen dichten Bäumen geschah es, dass Elwe Melian zum ersten Mal erblickte und sich in sie verliebte. Es wird berichtet, dass die Baumkronen so dicht belaubt waren, dass es dem Sonnenlicht unmöglich war, bis zum Boden vorzudringen. Zwar lastete ihr Zauber noch immer auf dem Wald der in dem Tal stand, doch befand er sich außerhalb des Gürtels Melians. Später zog Eol, mit Einverständnis Thingols, hierher, um unter den größten Bäumen Beleriands zu leben, musste aber Thingol das Schwert Anglachel als Gegenleistung übergeben.
