abstract
  • Bristol Rovers picked up their third win in four games to lift them off the bottom of the League Two table for the first time in three weeks. New signing Ryan Brunt, who had recently joined from Stoke City, was handed his Pirates debut, while Claude Davis had a debut to forget for Rotherham, after he was booked, conceded a penalty and was sent off, all in the first half. Rovers opened the scoring shortly before the break, when Lee Brown converted the spot kick awarded when Davis brought down Brunt in the area. Five minutes later Davis was gone for a second bookable offence when he brought down Eliot Richards, having previously been booked for a foul on Brunt after just nine minutes of the match. Ellis Harrison scored his first goal in senior football just two minutes after being brought on as a substitute for Richards, a spectacular effort that saw him slot home after receiving the ball in his own half and bursting through the Rotherham back line, before Joe Anyinsah made it 3–0 just after the hour mark. Substitute David Noble grabbed a consolation goal for Rotherham just a minute after coming on, but Rovers ended the game as deserved winners.
