You should get a clearer answer when the new Gundam Seed Destiny Movie comes out godwilling, but heres wat most people understand about their confusing as hell relationship: -Cagalli takes the extreme as per usual and puts away the ring so that she can try to stop the mistakes she made, letting blue haired freaks rule Orb instead of her. -Athrun(in the newer movie, which changes a few things for the fans) says its ok, they dont need to rush things -Originally the writer for GS and GSD decided to pull of something about as pleasing to the fans as killing Amuro Ray in the Novel, and say that Cagalli and Athrun never really loved each other. Then again she has cancer or something. Maybe a Tumor. This will probably be changed when the movie comes out. -The deal with Merylin Hawk was more of, "look after Athrun while i do stuff in orb" on Cagalli's part. Athrun probably wouldn't care if she were killed off, since he doesnt love her that way. This probably doesnt help as much as you thought it would but thats basically what most people agree with.
