  • Gaavrin was a Tellarite male who lived during the 22nd century. He was the first officer on the Tezra, a Tellarite freighter owned and operated by his brother Captain Skalaar under the authority of the Tellarite Mining Consortium. The ship was seized by the Klingon Empire after crossing into Klingon territory while hauling firesalt under Skalaar's orders. Gaavrin never forgave his brother for the loss of the ship. Skalaar kidnapped Jonathan Archer and was going to trade him for the return of the ship. When he contacted Gaavrin, who was now a maintenance engineer, and told him of his plan, Gaavrin refused to help him. He informed his brother that their ship was stripped for parts by the Klingons and that Skalaar could get his antimatter injector from him but then has to leave. (ENT: "Bounty") Gaavrin was played by actor Ed O'Ross whose costume was later sold off on the It's A Wrap! sale and auction on eBay. [1]. In the final draft script of "Bounty", Gaavrin was described thus; "He's wearing a slightly greasy jumpsuit, befitting a low-level maintenance engineer." In the "Bounty" script, Gaavrin was described as appearing on a monitor aboard Skalaar's shuttle when Skalaar arrived at the Tellarite station. On the monitor, Gaavrin would have asked Skalaar why he was there, and listened to Skalaar reply that he needed his help, before Gaavrin boarded Skalaar's shuttle. In the final edit of the episode, though, Gaavrin boards the shuttle before exchanging the dialogue in this scene with Skalaar.
