Also known as just Tuna and Te Tuna, he is the God of Eels from Polynesian lore (He is also known as Fa'arava'i'anu, prince of the lake Vaihiria). The myth between Tuna and the Goddess Hina/Ina varies depending on the island. In some he was her lover, in others he was her husband, and in others the eel she raised in a jar that attempted to rape her. All these stories end with him being sentenced to death, his severed head be buried in the sand and from it came the first coconut palm trees. As Tuna Roa his dead body became the source of all eels.
