Jeremiah "Jerry" Joseph Anthony Long (19 March 1905 – 1990) was a school teacher and Labour Party politician active in the Stepney area. Born in Whitechapel, he was the son of Timothy Long, a dock labourer and his wife Hannah née Doyle. Both his parents were born in County Cork, Ireland. A member of Stepney Borough Council, he was Mayor of Stepney for 1937-38. Subsequently a member of the successor Tower Hamlets London Borough Council. From 1949-58 he represented Stepney on the London County Council.
