| - Ellen "The Lady" is the heroine of the western 1995 movie, The Quick And The Dead. She was played by Sharon Stone. In 1881, Ellen "The Lady" enters the town of Redemption and there she signs up and gets in a single elimination gun fighting contest held by the town's sinister leader and mayor and ex outlaw, John Herod. She also meets villain turned to the good side and preacher, Cort, who got taken by John Herod and is forced to participate. Ellen "The Lady" saves his life that night when Herod's lackies hung him. She meets other great characters such as Herod's son and general store owner, "The Kid", Ace Hanlon, and Doc Wallace. Throughout the movie, "The Lady" and Herod kill contestants, Herod even unwillingly kills his own son. When she tries to escape she's persuaded by Doc Wallace to return thanks to him giving her her dad's badge. "The Lady" realizes that Herod is responsible for dad's death. Cort shoots "The Lady", when Herod says if they refuse to participate they both will die. But "The Lady" comes back into town alive and well and reveals to Herod who she is when she shows him her dad's badge. Then "The Lady" shoots and kills him. Afterward, she gives Cort her dad's badge and he becomes the new marshal and then "The Lady" saddles up and rides out of town.
