In Dan McGugin's 18th season as head coach, the Commodores compiled a record of 8-0-1 (4-0 in conference games) and outscored opponents 177 to 16. Vanderbilt finished atop its conference for the second year in a row, tying with North Carolina and Georgia Tech for the Southern Conference championship.
