| - Hobbearia was a small enclave of hobgoblins and bugbears. It is unknown where this city was located nor if it exists today. Rumors place it somewhere in the Nentir Vale, although surely it could not exist there today if not in a demiplane or otherwise hidden by powerful magic. The city itself was divided physically by the river Hob into the districts of Lower Hob and Upper Hob. At its peak, it had over 10,000 hobgoblins and bugbears living together in (relative) harmony. Lower Hob was also known as the Hobbish Quarter or the Hobbish Ghetto, and was encased in a shabby wooden wall for the defense of its denizens. It was populated almost entirely by poor hobgoblin folk, although some poor bugbear families were to be found there as well. Crime rates were high, and the hobgoblin folk prided themselves on their ability to solve their conflicts through self-mediation and force of arms. Upper Hob, or the Fair Bear district, was comprised of the separate areas of Bear hill, Downtown-Beartown and Bugton. Bugbears lived in these elevated areas of town, well guarded and with a view into the ghettos below. Almost all of the nobility of Hobbearia was comprised of bugbears, and they lived exclusively in Upper Hob. A much more peaceful life could be found in the Fair Bear district.
