Patrick was unable to have a child and wanted Matt to provide the sperm for Juliane to have a child. Matt and Kelly clashed over the subject with Kelly not wanting Matt to do it. When Matt backed out, Patrick lashed out at Kelly, blaming her for Matt turning down their offer. Later, Kelly gave Matt her blessing to go through with it and he did.
