- Whitebeard (白ひげ, Shirohige), real name Edward Newgate, is considered to be one of the strongest men in the world, rivaling King of the Pirates Gol D. Roger himself. After Roger's death, he became one of the Four Emperors, and placed Fishman Island under his protection. After one of his subordinates, Ace, was captured and sentenced to death, Whitebeard came to save him and perished in the following Marineford War. Players can unlock him in the third game's Dream Log Mode. Whitebeard wields the powers of the Quake Quake Fruit, a fruit that allows him to create vibrations and quakes, allowing him to produce massive shockwaves.

- Whitebeard, real name Edward Newgate, is the most powerful of the Four Emperors ruling over the New World (the second half of the Grand Line), and the only person to ever battle the Pirate King to a draw. With Roger's death he became the "Strongest Man in the World", and this reputation makes him the most feared and respected person in the world. When people say that he has the power to shake the world, they mean it literally, as he ate the Tremor-Tremor Fruit (Gura Gura no Mi), which has the power to generate massive shockwaves and cause earthquakes.

Side: Oscillating Throw (Kabutowari): Whitebeard focuses his great power into a small, spherical area, otherwise known as a hypocenter, to perform a concentrated, explosion-like attack with his fist. Up: Destructive Slam: Whitebeard jumps into the air and comes down, striking the earth with the bisento and causing an earthqake around him. Down: Spacequake: Whitebeard sends shockwaves to his front and back. Final Smash: One Man Army: Imbues his bisento with his quake powers, then unleashes five swings in front of him that send energy waves forward. He then slams his bisento down in from of him in a chopping motion for the sixth strike, which sends a large forward-traveling shockwave. Ultra Smash: Heaven and Earth: Whitebeard tosses his bisento upwards. He then raises both hands up and grabs the air as if it was tangible. He then pulls downward, which shakes the whole screen and sends enemies flying upwards into the air, and then falling back down. Victory 1: Whitebeard plants the bisento into the ground, then laughs and says "No matter who your parents are, we are all children of the sea." as he walks forward, then punches at the air, making a vibration. Victory 2: Whitebeard punches at the air, making a tremor, then spins the bisento and sets it in the ground. He then crosses his arms saying "Starting now! This is my territory!!! Victory 3: Whitebeard spins his bisento, then swings it, making a vibration, then stomps forward and punches the air making a crack saying "Gurarara... Is there no one who will try to take me down?"

However, twenty-two years have passed since the Pirate King's death and, although Whitebeard is still greatly feared, the world is slowly changing and there are those in the Grand Line are looking to rise to the top and take Whitebeard's place. Whitebeard believes that pirates should have at least some sense of morality and honor, and every member of his crew is treated as his child, and they in turn treat him as their own father.
