While most mesmers aid the team with condition removal skills such as Null Field or quickness skills like Time Warp, the KSL Mesmer is well known as the most fucking useless class in the game. The overlord of this class is an ancient power known only to heroes as Daeraxa or "that fucking mesmer". One night, the village was visited by Knuckles the Echidna, on his way back to the Floating Island. Using his powers, Mesmer convinced the others that Knuckles was "the one" and told them to don their cult costumes. Grabbing a young sheep, the mob headed out to sacrifice her for the Moon Goddess, grabbing the attention of a sleeping Knuckles. The echidna burst out of his room and freed the lamb, so Mesmer ordered his mob to stop them. They eventually found him inside a barn thanks to the sheep's betrayal.

Mesmer może skierować magię przeciwnika przeciw niemu, wyssać mu energię, blokować umiejętności... Ma też mnóstwo „metaumiejętności” czyli umiejętności, które wpływają na inne umiejętności – świetne przykłady to choćby Signet of Illusion sprawiający, że następna umiejętność użyta przez mesmera korzysta z wartości iluzji zamiast swojego normalnego atrybutu, czy Mantra of Persistence wydłużająca czas działania przekleństw z dziedziny iluzji. Bardzo ciekawą cechą mesmera jest też to, że choć sam rzadko powoduje różne stany, to ma wiele zdolności, które w jakiś sposób tymi stanami manipulują i wykorzystują je by jeszcze poważniej zaszkodzić przeciwnikowi.

When Knuckles stumbled upon the village while transporting a chest back to the Floating Island, Robotnik and Mesmer used the opportunity to kill the guardian. Mesmer convinced the townsfolk that legends had foretold of the coming of "the Red One" and that they needed to perform a sacrifice to the Moon Goddess to ensure a good harvest. They selected a young female sheep for the sacrifice and paraded her in front of the window to Knuckles' bedroom, leading the echidna to come and rescue her. However, this had been part of the plan, since the girl was also controlled by Mesmer. Having led Knuckles to a secluded spot for them to rest, she alerted the others and Knuckles was captured. Mesmer had Knuckles placed inside a large wicker, egg-shaped cage and tried to burn him alive. Knuckles was able to free himself by rolling the cage into a nearby river and smashing it on the rocks. He stole Mesmer's staff and used it to break the spell on all the townspeople before confronting Mesmer himself. At this point, Robotnik revealed himself and explained the plan to Knuckles. He also pointed out that, as ruler of the planet, Knuckles could not send him to prison, and thus Robotnik was perfectly safe unless Knuckles planned to kill him, something the echidna could not do. With Robotnik's laughter ringing in his ears, Knuckles was forced to leave Robotnik and Mesmer untouched.

When the mesmer was used to order a crowd to kill Butler and Juliet Butler the eye contact was made through a large screen. By fairy law, a fairy can't use mesmer on another fairy. This law has been violated by Opal Koboi and Lt. Cudgeon. Although Leon Abbot (N'Zall) used mesmer, demons are not bound by fairy law, so he did not violate it.

Because of the steeper learning curve, many players are unfamiliar with the profession; in PvE, it can be hard for mesmers to be accepted into pick-up groups. The better players know, however, that even moderately skilled mesmers can turn battles quickly and decisively in the party's favor. Mesmers are particularly devastating in PvP and nearly every GvG will have at least one. The mesmer's primary attribute is Fast Casting, which reduces activation time of both spells and signets. Their primary base armor provides an AR of 60, with +10 energy and +2 energy regeneration; they begin with a base energy of 30, regenerating at 4 pips. Many of their damage-dealing skills ignore armor, allowing the mesmer to devastate hardened Warriors and enchantment-protected Elementalists, as well as bypassing some of the innate protections of bosses and hard mode-buffed foes.
