Cypher’s Mine was part of a mining district. The water here must be purified from the Cimarroncito creek, there are 13 campsites, and a shower. Though some campers choose to set up tents, Appalachian Trail-type bivouacs are available, and are able to sleep an entire crew. Cypher's is also the birthplace of the Philmont band The Tobasco Donkeys
