Archmage Azdaran was the last leader of the Elders of Keldagrim before the council was abolished in favour of a monarchy, beginning the Age of Kings, due to the need for one absolute ruler as a result of the loss of magic, which was a consequence of the cure for Zamorak's chaos curse, in the early Third Age. Azdaran wrote a document concerning the curse and the decision to instate Captain Gozdaron as the first King of Keldagrim, which would become the oldest surviving document in dwarven history. Nowadays, one fragment is securely stored in the Records Chamber, whereas the others are scattered throughout the Ancient Keldagrim ruins north of the city.
