The orange hue of the setting sun glistened off the clear, shimmering waters of the Mediterranean. A young woman in a floral dress held her hand over her sunglassed eyes, a freshly lit cigarette hanging limply from her lips. "Amy, do we need more wine?" Josh called from inside their villa. Amy looked down at the table, sitting uncomfortable in the white sand. Two glasses stood: one empty, another half full. "Yes!" She cried back. "Been nice," he said. "It has," Amy replied while sipping her wine. "Wine's been good." "Do you hear that?" Amy asked after a while. "Hear what?" "It's quiet."

Amy looked down at the table, sitting uncomfortable in the white sand. Two glasses stood: one empty, another half full. "Yes!" She cried back. A few moments later Josh sauntered out wearing an equally floral patterned three-quarter length shorts and a half-buttoned up red shirt; a new unopened bottle of wine in his hand. He placed himself opposite Amy, set the bottle down and lifted the cigarette from her lips. He took a drag and held the smoke in his lungs for a few moments. Josh closed his eyes before exhaling. "Thank you," he said handing it back. Amy shook him off as she lifted the wine and unscrewed the top. She poured it into her own glass before tilting in Josh's direction. He nodded as he took another drag from his cigarette. "Been nice," he said. "It has," Amy replied while sipping her wine. "Wine's been good." Josh chuckled as he did the same. He leaned back in his chair, tilting his head back to soak up the rays from the sun. The sound of the waves softly crashing against the beach. "Do you hear that?" Amy asked after a while. "Hear what?" "It's quiet." "Huh," Josh grunted. "It is. I hadn't even noticed." "Both of us, twenty years old," Amy began, "and this is the only time I remember it being quiet." "Yeah... Yeah," Josh finally said as he stubbed his cigarette out, and looked to the horizon with a gentle smile painted across his face.
