Remarkably, instead of being killed, she acquired the power to fly in the vacuum of space and emit comet-like gases. Grava was accepted into Legion Academy, but repeatedly rebuffed from full membership of the Legion. She was, however, accepted into a second incarnation of the Legion of Substitute Heroes, which was set up after the original group disbanded, by (then) retired Legionnaire, Cosmic Boy. However, this group had only a short existence.
