Unlike prior Metal Gear games, Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker divides gameplay into individual missions (or "ops"), each with its own difficulty level and objectives. Upon completing a mission, an evaluation based on time, ranking, and other relevant stats like alerts/kills is granted and the game auto saves (with progress at Mother Base updated after finishing).
