The Republic of Alaska was declared shortly after the Yellowstone Eruption by the territorial government of Alaska, now effectively cut off from the United States government on the East Coast. Numbering at less than 70,000 inhabitants spread over a vast area at the time of the eruption, the nation of Alaska is a very low population density, and aside from a few major towns is noted as being very remote.
