  • The Sega Dreamcast (Japanese: ドリームキャスト; code-named "Blackbelt," "Dural," and "Katana" during development) was Sega's last video game console. Launched in 1998/1999, the console is the earliest sixth generation video game console.
  • Dreamcast sales were positive during launch, but because of the strong pressure from rival PlayStation 2 and a bet with Microsoft, Dreamcast sales decreased, and Sega finally discontinued the Dreamcast in March 2001 and withdrew entirely from the console hardware business and was bought out by Microsoft, making it the company's final console.
  • The Dreamcast was Sega's final video gaming console. Only three Star Wars games were released on the Dreamcast: * Star Wars: Episode I Racer (2000) * Star Wars: Episode I Jedi Power Battles (2000) * Star Wars: Demolition (2000)

  • The Sega Dreamcast (ドリームキャスト, Dorīmukyasuto) is Sega's fifth and final Console and the successor to the Sega Saturn. Hoping to recapture the Video Game Market, it was designed to supersede both the Playstation and the Nintendo 64. Originally released sixteen months before the PlayStation 2 (PS2), and three years before the Nintendo GameCube and the Microsoft Xbox, it was considered to be ahead of its time and was initially successful at restoring Sega's reputation in the gaming industry. However, it failed to gain enough momentum before the release of Sony's PlayStation 2 in March 2000, and Sega decided to discontinue the Sega Dreamcast the next year, withdrawing entirely from the Console Hardware business.
  • Dreamcast ist die letzte Spielekonsole der Firma SEGA (Service Games).

  • Sega Dreamcast (codenamed Katana) is a console by Sega. It is the successor to the Sega Saturn. It is Sega's last system. Sega used a $100 million marketing campaign to promote their new system.[1]
  • Dreamcast was a video game console released by Sega in November 1998 in Japan and in late 1999 in other territories. At the time it was the most technologically sophisticated consumer video game console available. Dreamcast sales were positive during launch, but when Sony announced the PlayStation 2, sales of the Dreamcast plummeted. Dreamcast was discontinued as early as March 2001. Support of the system continued in Europe and Oceania until the end of 2002, while in Japan, consoles were still sold until 2007 and new licensed games continued to be released.
  • The Dreamcast is a computer console that belongs to Dave Reynolds. He bought one to play Soul Calibur and linked it up to PAL, thus allowing the Dreamcast to talk and think for itself.

  • The Dreamcast (ドリームキャスト Dorīmukyasuto?) is Sega's last video game console and the successor to the Sega Saturn. An attempt to recapture the console market with a next-generation system, it was designed to supersede the PlayStation and Nintendo 64. Originally released sixteen months before the PlayStation 2 and three years before the Nintendo GameCube and the Xbox, the Dreamcast is part of the sixth generation of video game consoles. 10.6 million Dreamcasts were sold worldwide.
  • The Dreamcast(ドリームキャストDorīmukyasuto) is a video game console that was released by Sega in November 1998 in Japan and later in 1999 in other territories. It was the first entry in the sixth generation of video game consoles, preceding its rivals, the PlayStation 2, Xbox and GameCube. The Dreamcast was Sega's final home console.
  • The Dreamcast was the last video game console manufactured by Sega. It was released before its contemporary consoles (the Nintendo GameCube, PlayStation 2 and Xbox), but competition with these platforms meant that it failed to generate sufficient revenue and Sega eventually withdrew from the console market altogether. It had a short life, being released in 1998 in Japan and 1999 in the West (North America, Europe and Australia) and then discontinued (in North America) in November 2001, Europe and Australia in September 2002 and Japan in early 2007. It is now available only on the Internet and independent small stores.
  • Dreamcast (also known as DC and Sega Dreamcast) is a 128-bit game console created by SEGA Corporation. It was designed to compete with the Sony PlayStation 2, whose pre-release hype and promises hurt SEGA in the end. The Dreamcast is still comparable to the PS2 and GameCube, and can pull more/higher resolution textures than the PS2 can with it's more potent VRAM. It can pull theoretically 7 million polygons per second, fully shaded and textured, although no games ever attempted this, with the exception of Test Drive Le Mans running at 5 million PPS. Most Dreamcast games ran at 800,000 to one million PPS, especially PlayStation ports that didn't dare use the system's resources well.

  • After the Sega Saturn failed in the market, Sega lost a lot of money. To improve the momentum, Sega discontinued the Saturn to save money, and announced the Dreamcast in 1997, and that it be the start of a new generation, which was the sixth generation. Sega announced a new Sonic game, which is Sonic Adventure, and that it will be a launch title. The console's logo which is a red swirl had to be changed in Europe, as a company in Germany had a similar logo and to risk copyright infringement, the logo was changed to blue in Europe.
  • The Dreamcast was initially created as prophecised by an ancient rite that involved sticking a katana into a shark, tying some belts around it, then throwing it into a whirlpool. The result was born unto the world in a giant conch shell (hence the symbol) and praised by the gods of gaming as the king of consoles.
  • This motherfucker was revolutionary back in the day and is still fun as hell and worth a pick up at a flea market or major gaming store. Gosh, just look at that list and all of those great games. It's a shame this console died early - although it got some new titles long after it was discontinued. Seriously, it's awesome. It had jaw-dropping graphics, four controller ports, VGA support [1], and it doesn't even need modding to play burned games (see pic in the bottom of this page).
