The Small Girl and her two younger brothers came into the Corner Shop in July 1968 when Ena Sharples was in charge of the premises as Maggie and Gordon Clegg were away in Llandudno. The three children were obviously not well cared for and claimed that they were hungry as their mum and dad weren't home yet and they hadn't been given any money to buy their dinner earlier in the day. Ena took pity on them and gave them a loaf of bread and a jar of jam, putting the money for the two items into the till from her own purse.
