To combat counterfeiting, a green colored wave design, official seal and electronic swipe strip were added to the card. These cards are reissued at no cost every five years and can be updated should the person move to a new location, change their name, signature, photo, organ donor status or criminal level at a cost of $10.00. NID certificates are issued at birth. Cards are issued to persons upon reaching age 15 and are required to be carried. Those under 15 do not possess the NID card.
