The Alameda is a busy and historic street in San Jose and Santa Clara California. Except for the last few blocks of The Alameda on the Santa Clara end, the road is signed as a part of State Route 82. The road was built in the late 1700s by Native American neophytes at Mission Santa Clara de Asís to link the mission with El Pueblo de San José de Guadalupe. The residents of the town used the tree-lined path to attend Sunday Mass at the mission chapel prior to the construction of St. Joseph's Church.
