In Finnish mythology, Metsänneitsyt was a forest spirit which appeared as a beautiful woman from the front, but from behind looked like a tree stump of a bundle of twigs and branches. She tries to entice passing male travelers into falling in love with her. When the person would touch her, she would turn into a tree stump. Metsänneitsyt means "forest virgin" in Finnish.
