Gordon Barrington was an RAF pilot during World War II, during which time Nick became friends with him and his wife in London. After the war, the Barringtons moved to Toronto. Gordon started a company with Jeremy Stanton, who murdered him in the early 1950s in a fake car accident in an attempt to get control of the business. However, Gordon's widow, Katherine, refused to sell her shares. Having survived an attempt by Stanton to murder her also, she was relocated by Nick and remained outside Canada until the 1990s.
