It is situated on the wall of the Power Plant, and removing it will cause a flow of lava to enter the room and the other sectors of the facility. Anthony Higgs meets up with Samus whilst tracking a purple beast in the Pyrosphere after he is attacked by a Rhedogian and Samus comes to help him. Anthony tells Samus that he was contacted by Adam to meet with the other soldiers in a nearby Navigation Booth and open the magma-eruption port. He comments that it has something to do with restoring the ship's main power, and also that it was somewhat excessive for Adam to send the whole unit to do so. When no one else arrived at the Navigation Booth, Anthony had a look around and was attacked by the Rhedogian. Later Samus and Anthony meet in the Geothermal Power Plant, following their respective missions where they encounter the monster Samus is tracking, which is attacking them from the shadows. Samus is ordered by Adam to activate her Super Missiles to destroy the eruption port, which sends a huge flow of magma into the room and increases the light, revealing the monster attacking them to be Ridley.
