The shuttle's main use was the quickly and efficiently transport of commanders to and from areas. It was still quite fast; its top speed was about 1,050 mph in an atmosphere. During the Astragon Wars, there was at least one account of a shuttle using its single laser cannon to destroy an enemy TIE/rc (Imperial scout TIE fighter variant) when testing the shuttle's systems. TIE/shs were equipped with landing gear, which for a time, made them one of the only TIE Series craft not dependent upon the docking racks found aboard larger Imperial ships and bases.[8] A boarding ramp extended from the underside of the shuttle's passenger pod.
