Although no longer the behemoth it was in the early 1990s, the Soviet Union is still one of the most powerful nation states on Earth with a formidable military and nuclear arsenal. The continuing rise of the United States of America and its allies has however, continued to slowly grind down the Soviet Union, which, since 2001, has been forced to grant its citizens more rights. In 1996, it put a man on the Moon, becoming only the second ever nation state to do so. However, this was somewhat dampened by 1998 as a United Nations base, funded mainly by Japan, Europe and America took shape on the Moon and in 2003, NASA finally suceeded in putting a man on Mars.

  • Although no longer the behemoth it was in the early 1990s, the Soviet Union is still one of the most powerful nation states on Earth with a formidable military and nuclear arsenal. However, the Soviet Union's biggest threat is the increasingly powerful Sino-North Korean Alliance in Asia. This new alliance is adding a third faction to the already complex Cold War political scene, its strength bolstered by the entry of Brazil and Argentina into their camp. Despite this, the Soviet Union remains a powerful force in the world and it can look forward to a hopefully prosperous, if slightly lean future.
