Born into a disgraced Sith family on Ziost, according to the prejudiced Sith, Evanesce was of "inferior blood stock" — her parents had attempted to turn to the Light Side of the Force, and for this heinous crime, had been butchered by their entire clan. The orphaned child, Evanesce, was considered a disgrace to the Sith community on Ziost, yet she was not killed because of her extremely young age at the time. Although her life had been spared for the treachery of her parents, Evanesce was an scorned and repudiated child: none wanted to take care of her, and she was forced to live off of the scraps of the rest of community while she struggled to survive without mentorship or parentship. Abandonment drove her to the cliffs, where her garrulous personality was hardened: starving and on the brink of death, she had learned that she could not afford to rely on her community for survival, and the destitute orphan, about to perish, learned to seek water in Ziost's glacial streams in the mountains, and to capture and slaughter animals for food. Learning the ways of the Force was a necessity for her if she wished to have food: she was forced to use Force Choke to crush animals to take their meat, and to learn telekinesis to construct shelter and push aside stones, which were far too heavy for her underdeveloped and young musculature to move. Thus, Evanesce's Force prowess was forced by necessity to accelerate far faster than her chronological age or her physical strength — in the wilderness, clinging to the Dark Side of the Force was imperative for her very survival. In penury and constantly on the brink of death, always seeking after the nearest animal, Evanesce disappeared for years, leaving her former community and instead living in the hostile wilderness, where although she assailed by predators and constantly close to death, she could forage for her own food. Years of homelessness and roaming through thousands of kilometers of unexplored mountainside, far from civilization, Evanesce would occasionally come across forsaken talismans and artifacts from the past, unfound because of their remoteness — including long-lost Sith holocrons, untouched for millennia. Her finding of them was not accidental: the long-forsaken dark spirits within them, upon sensing a powerful Force user striding through the mountains, beseeched to impart their dark and feral teachings upon a worthy Sith once again. Alone, without friend nor parent, the holocrons dominated her life — her only companions, the only ones that would speak to her in her long sojourns. The holocrons, untouched for millennia, possessed teachings that had not resurfaced amongst the Ziost Sith for epochs — maligned talents such as Sith sorcery, knowledge of terrible powers such as Force storm and summon darkness. All day, for years, she became possessed by the holocrons, her only company in the wilderness, and their tutelage became the only reality she knew. After summoning terrible Force Storms that raged across the skies, the destitute and darkness-enthralled Evanesce was found by other Ziost Sith who were searching for the outpouring of Dark Side energies in the mountains — the holocron-consumed girl that they had forsaken years ago. Astounded by her considerable talents, earned in the wilderness without the tutelage of a single human mentor, she was soon reaccepted, and feared, for she had resurrected forbidden knowledge that had laid dormant for thousands of years. However, although her command of the Dark Side was terrifying, she was physically feeble, her teenage body impoverished without care or nursing for years.
