He played junior for the Galt Terrier Pups and the Oshawa Generals from 1932 to 1935 and then played senior for the Oshawa G-Men from 1936 to 1939. The Toronto Maple Leafs brought him up for the 1939-40 and 1940-41 seasons when he played in 54 games and scored 10 goals and 8 assists. Chisolm then joined the army and played in 1941-42 with Halifax Army and in 1942-43 for the senior Toronto Army Daggers. He then went into active service and retired from hockey.
