  • The DMM1 signature model is based on the ICX series body which is a smaller version of the Iceman. Malakian had been using ICX models previously. All DMM1 guitars have graphics created by Daron's father, Vartan Malakian, who also designed the cover art for System of a Down's double album Mezmerize/Hypnotize. The DMM1 features a mahogany body mated to a set-in mahogany neck with a 22-fret rosewood fingerboard with dot inlays. Components include a fixed bridge with a custom tailpiece and dual Ibanez Axis humbucking pickups with individual volume controls. Rather than a traditional toggle to select the active pickup(s), this model has a balance knob which allows the player to dial in just the right mix of the two humbuckers. This guitar was a limited production model, with only 300 copies offered worldwide. Each copy was numbered on the headstock below the serial number.
