Fiction is a very broad class or genre of Literature. Fiction is story telling, where the story didn't actually happen. The story may still be based on reality -- things that commonly happen or a set of things that have happened, but arranged to make a story. Fiction can also include elements that are not or even cannot be real -- a "what if" story, such as a story about how things would be different if the United States' American Revolution had not succeeded.

  • Fiction is a collection of various stories which are not completely accurate retellings of events in reality. In other words, fictional stories are stories which are not true, although they may be based on true events. There are two main types of fiction; realistic and unrealiztic, which is pretty self-explanitory. To Atheists, most religious stories, such as those contained in the Bible, the Qu'ran, etc. may be considered unrealistic fictional stories. Also Christians think the Qu'ran is fiction, and Muslims think the New Testament is fiction.

  • Fiction was a feature on the Star Wars fan club website, Hyperspace. It was composed largely of short stories previously published in Star Wars Gamer, Star Wars Insider, Star Wars Galaxy Magazine, Star Wars Adventure Journal, etc., but more recent additions were original contributions.
  • Fiction is a state of mind that can only be explained as the conspiracy thoughts of liberals whom likely regularly dose on large amounts of LSD and psychodelic peanut butter before doing anything. Now you might say, no, fiction is a fantastical storyline made up to entertain or get a point across to children, like Harry Potter or Alice in wonderland. This simply isn't true and is a great example of a realistic conspiracy. Hogwarts does exist, in reality it's a island off the coast of Cuba that the government has been hiding for years, it's existance is a perfect example of a Non-fiction or reality.
  • Collaborative Fiction is a form of writing together where each author writes a portion of the story, or writes focusing around a specific protagonist they own, and then passes the story on to the next writer for further additions or perhaps a change in focus to a protagonist owned by that author. Collaborative fiction can be fully open with no rules or enforced structure as it moves from author to author, however most collaborative fiction adopts some form of 'writers guidelines' on what is or is not an acceptable contribution. Common rules deal in:
  • Fiction is a genre in which the stories told are not real. Character, locations, and events may be real within fiction or may be entirely made up, but some element of the unreal will be present. Nearly all the media found on TV Tropes are fictional, so we won't go to the effort of listing them here.
  • Fiction was a type of literature that was written for entertainment rather than to inform. The term could also refer to a lie. In a 2364 captain's log, Jean-Luc Picard described Whalen as a fiction expert. (TNG: "The Big Goodbye" ) According to Picard, as of 2367, Tagus III was "a mystery that has invited more argument, more deduction, more speculation than the best works of fiction" (TNG: "Qpid" ) Jake Sisko mostly wrote fiction. (DS9: "Nor the Battle to the Strong")

  • Fiction is by definition the lack or misrepresentation of truth. Fictional tellings developed before the written word, and are therefore better understood by all. Romulus Hobblefoot, an intellectual man with an abusive father, would tell his friends stories while sitting around a fire. He first developed the word fiction to describe the stories sometime in early January, 900 A.D. The stories, loosely based on the horrible things that had happened to him throughout his childhood, served as a way of entertaining and frightening the other boys. The idea of fiction however dates back much further...
