- Tanaris (ook bekend als De Tanaris Desert) is een woestijn gelegen in Southern Kalimdor, ten oosten van Un'Goro Crater en ten zuiden van Thousand Needles. Het is een dor land, bedekt met zandduinen en het wordt regelmatig bloodgesteld aan gevaarlijke zandstormen. De enige grote vorm van beschaving is de hoofdstad van de Steamwheedle Cartel goblins, Gadgetzan, die helemaal in het noorden van de zone ligt. Het land wordt niet alleen bewoond door goblins, ook leven er basilisks, hyena's en schorpioenen. Ook leven er ogres, sand trolls en sea giants. Het duinlandschap word bedekt met plaatsen met silithids.

Hier liegt der einzige Bodenzugang nach Uldum. Der Hort der bronzenen Drachen, die Höhlen der Zeit, liegen ebenfalls hier. Es ist ein weites Land über und über mit Sandünen bedeckt, in welchen die örtlichen Sandstürme eine ernsthafte Gefahr darstellen. Die Goblins des Dampfdruckkartells haben sich in diesem gefährlichen Landstrich niedergelassen. Ihre örtlichen Posten sind die Stadt Gadgetzan und der Dampfdruckhafen.

- Tanaris est une région désertique située au sud-est de Kalimdor. A l'ouest se trouve le Cratère Un'Goro et au nord les Mille Pointes. Il est conseillé de ne pas s'aventurer dans cette région avant le niveau 40. De plus, c'est un territoire contesté par l'Alliance et la Horde et le PVP est fréquent sur les serveur JcJ dans cette zone. Comme la plupart des régions désertiques, la faune est extrêmement hostile du fait de sa lutte perpétuelle pour sa survie. On pourrait croire qu'une zone désertique est vide de toute vie. Rien ne serait plus faux. Le désert de Tanaris grouille de hyènes, scorpions et autres basilics.
