John Laurence Garrett (8 September 1931 – 11 September 2007) was a British management consultant and Labour Party politician. He was Member of Parliament for Norwich South for 19 years in two non-consecutive terms, from 1974 to 1983, and later from 1987 to 1997. He joined the Labour Party in 1951, and was elected to Greenwich Borough Council in 1970. He fought Norwich South in 1972, and unseated the Conservative Thomas Stuttaford, a local GP, at the February 1974 general election, and several times subsequently. He also worked with Byron Morrow twice: first in an episode of Men into Space and then in an episode of Highway to Heaven.

  • John Garrett is a reporter of the World Inquirer, that is in the town working on a story. He has a difficult relation with his son Danny. He uncovers together with a man called Red Bear the corrupt actions of the town, for which the sherrif tries to murder them both. He also stops the children´s madness with the help of his son. Later John and Danny reconcile and leave the town.
  • John Garrett was a specialist working for S.H.I.E.L.D. He was Ward's training officer, and has a long, if not always pleasant, history with Coulson. His clearance level was not stated, but he referred to Coulson as 'the Level 8 jackass I'm staring at', which means it was high enough to be aware of Level Eight and know Coulson was, Garrett was Level 7(New Avengers V4 012 issue).
  • Jonathan "John" Garrett was a turncoat S.H.I.E.L.D. agent who joined HYDRA. When he was injured during a mission in Sarajevo, he survived by becoming the first Deathlok soldier. As an agent of S.H.I.E.L.D. he used his own Level 7 clearance to then become the Clairvoyant, the mastermind behind the Centipede Project. During his time as an agent, he recruited Grant Ward into HYDRA and became a fatherly figure to him. During the HYDRA Uprising, he broke his cover and fled S.H.I.E.L.D. and restarted the Centipede Project with the goal to recreate the life-saving drug of GH.325, which he desperately needed to heal his failing organs. He then attempted to use the knowledge given to him by the drug to take over the world, but was stopped by Phil Coulson, Deathlok and Nick Fury in the Battle at Cyb
  • Originally selected in the 1971 NHL Entry Draft by the St. Louis Blues, Garrett would instead begin his professional career in 1973-74 with the Minnesota Fighting Saints of the World Hockey Association. He would play with the Fighting Saints until leaving the team Feb. 25, 1976, three days before the franchise folded. He then signed with the Toronto Toros, and would follow the Toros franchise when it relocated to Birmingham. In the final WHA season, Garrett was traded to the New England Whalers, and would remain with the franchise when it entered the NHL. Currently, he still holds the record for the most wins by any goalie in WHA history. Garrett would also play for the Quebec Nordiques and Vancouver Canucks of the NHL before retiring.
