  • Dr. Barto Radovas was a Komarran five-space physicist whose career suffered multiple checks at least partly due to his youthful involvement in Komarran resistance activities during their revolt against Barrayar. When he thought up an idea for how to get rid of Barrayaran rule cleanly without battles, by collapsing the wormhole from Komarr that led to Barrayar, he founded a group of conspirators who worked together to try to bring his idea about. He joined the Komarr Terraforming Project as a cover for his work, while his co-conspirators stole money and supplies from the project to devote to their goal. When the time came for their first large-scale test, he and his assistant, Marie Trogir, travelled to the soletta station and tried it out. Unfortunately for them, instead of collapsing the useless wormhole they'd been testing on, they turned it into a gigantic gravitic lance that shot and killed them. There was some thought that the effect might go on to be known as "The Radovas Effect". The group continued on under his next-in-command, Administrator Soudha.
