The town has eight families in it, one for each possible member of the caravan. Each family has a profession which governs how they interact with the players. If the profession has not yet been chosen by a caravanner, the house is empty except a lone moogle which explains to the player no one has moved in yet. As the years progress, if the player grows their relationship with their family by sending them letters and gifts as well as talking with the family members from time to time, the family will contribute to the caravan with larger gifts or discounted prices on their services.
