  • This slightly intelligent vegetable mass, between two and three meters tall, reeks of rotting organic matter as it shambles about feeding on any living thing it can wrap its roots around or into. Its dark leaves and tendrils are covered in a wet slime, probably exuded to help grapple and digest its food.

Description
  • Shambling mounds are humanoid plant monsters in ADOM. They are somewhat strong and sturdy monsters that start to show up in the mid game. Whilst they appear as plant monsters , they are also considered as humanoids for slaying purposes; they are even counted as armored humanoids for duelists' special penetrating attacks. Also, like animated trees, the PC cannot swap places with one as they root themselves in the ground. Electric growth spurts A further interesting property of shambling mounds is that being hit by a lightning bolt causes them to 'grow'. A stethoscope shows that once this happens, they still take some damage; however, their maximum HP — which they may eventually regenerate — will rise with each bolt they are hit with. The HP gains seem to depend on the power of the lighting bolt. Reportedlyhttp://www.adom.de/forums/showthread.php/10956-Shambling-Mound-Fun!/page2 if struck by lightning enough times their other stats may start to rise, and their XP yield will also increase with every 'growth'.
