__NOWYSIWYG__ As we all know, despite the fact that we're getting more and more new authors arriving and contributing to the wiki, the number of votes (and amount of participation) has decreased drastically with the Featured Fanon Series and Articles. Lately, we have been getting the number of votes 'required' for the series, however it's been next to impossible to push through the article (for unknown reasons, I would have assumed that was the easy one).

  • __NOWYSIWYG__ As we all know, despite the fact that we're getting more and more new authors arriving and contributing to the wiki, the number of votes (and amount of participation) has decreased drastically with the Featured Fanon Series and Articles. Lately, we have been getting the number of votes 'required' for the series, however it's been next to impossible to push through the article (for unknown reasons, I would have assumed that was the easy one). Since September of last year, we've only had, on average, three votes for the Featured Article. Two of those have come from AvatarRokusGhost and myself. With the Feature Series, it's been an average of 4, with even less towards the end of last year. The issue is not the number of stories available (we now have over 1,000, excluding chapters and character pages). The issue is lack of community participation. I would like to propose a change. I don't want this to go under. I love being able to nominate stories that I believe really are the gems of the wiki. The change I want to make is to remove the minimum vote count. Having less than five votes does not mean the story is not worthy of being featured. Having less than five votes does not reflect the story at all, it reflects the community, and at the moment, we're in a slow stage. We do not have a minimum requirement for the User of the Month, nor the featured article; why should the (in theory) exact same process be any different for the fanon side? 23:26, May 15, 2014 (UTC) I'm in full support of this. The fanon portal is an integral part of the site and the featured fanon series and article show some of the most presentable work on behalf of the fanon community. Given the relative inactivity and circumstances of the wiki now, I'd say the five vote rule is outdated and is inhibiting us from recognizing work deserving of recognition. Of course I want as many people as possible to vote for FFS/FFA in the future, but I believe this is a necessary step at this time. I support doing away with the five vote rule. -- 23:31, May 15, 2014 (UTC)
