| - Cloudkicker is a musical project by American musician Ben Sharp. Sharp is the sole songwriter, performer, producer and engineer behind Cloudkicker, and offers his music free of charge. His project has been called "one of Bandcamp’s first success stories", and has received props from the likes of Devin Townsend. Much has been made of Sharp's reluctance performing live or signing with a major label despite his success: he has noted that both of these things take concentrated effort, something he's not willing to invest time in, although he noted that playing live would be fun.

Musically, Cloudkicker is a blend between post-rock and extreme metal; while the songs often feature complex time signatures and heavily down-tuned guitars, most songs are heavily multi-tracked to create an atmosphere, while other songs are sparse and in some cases, fully acoustic. It's sometimes tagged as djent, a moniker Sharp noted to be indifferent towards. His music often revolves around the theme of aviation; the project itself is named after the TaleSpin character Kid Cloudkicker, and the song titles on Beacons are quotes from black box recordings from airplanes that suffered accidents. Much has been made of Sharp's reluctance performing live or signing with a major label despite his success: he has noted that both of these things take concentrated effort, something he's not willing to invest time in, although he noted that playing live would be fun.
