19th Century scientist Nathaniel Essex accidentally manages to genetically mutate himself after studying and researching the history of the Egyptian mutant known as En Sabah Nur who was also known by many as Apocalypse, while he was experimenting experimenting on the X-Genes. He was somehow thinking about his deceased wife and son that resulted for the accident during his experimentation to happen, causing for his body to be genetically altered, giving him various mutant powers and abilities.
Later, he then even shared his philosophy of Social Darwinism, which led to his obsession researching Charles Darwin's concept of evolution and natural selection, such as discovering the possibility of turning a human into a mutant or vice-versa by altering it's genetic composition. Becoming the immortal genius known as Mister Sinister, he became very successful in his researches and became perhaps the greatest geneticist in the world, since he is capable of cloning, creating, enhancing, and controlling mutant abilities for many centuries such as becoming a Nazi geneticist during World War II working alongside Adolf Hitler and Johann Schmidt, the Red Skull.
After World War II, he was forced into exile and after those following years, he restarted his new life in the United States under new several aliases and identities. He even founded his own clinic, [[w:c:marvel:Essex Corporation
