The Ludicrous Patents Office was a division of the Department of Magical Games and Sports. It was located on level seven of the Ministry of Magic headquarters. It presumably dealt with the licencing of "ludicrous" patents, though the exact meaning of this is unclear.

- The Ludicrous Patents Office was a division of the Department of Magical Games and Sports. This would be where people apply for a patent for their inventions be it spells or other things. Historically this used to be under the jurisdiction of the Wizengamot but given the volume of athletes patenting their moves and the sheer volume of ridiculous patent application. It was requested that this be transfered to a department that would have the time and manpower to handle the volume of paperwork required. It was decided that Department of Magical Games and Sports had the least amount of paperwork so this division was transferred to their office.
