Adamism was a human purist religion than sprang up in the Earth Alliance during the 22nd Century that—among other things— preached the extermination of human telepaths. Like a number of other such groups, many Adamites emigrated from Earth to the new colony worlds, seeking a place free of telepaths and other things they disapproved of. Some small groups settled on Mars, though they tended to congregate more in the outer frontier towns and isolated homesteads. A particularly large Adamist population settled on the Beta Colony in the Sheffer System and as late as 2253, about half of the colony's one million strong population still had Adamist leanings.
