Da es Lieutenant Dax nicht gleich gelingt, den Auftrag der Sonde herauszufinden, will er die junge, unerfahrene Frau ablösen. Bashir erklärt ihm, dass die junge Frau über 300 Jahre Erfahrung hat. Als es auf Grund eines von der Sonde heruntergeladenen Lebensform zu einer Plasmawelle im Habitatring, in dem sich die Botschafter mit Dr. Bashir gerade befinden, kommt, rettet der junge Offizier den Botschaftern das Leben. Botschafter Lojal bescheinigt Bashir, für sein Alter und angesichts der Umstände überaus logisch gehandelt zu haben. Auf Grund seiner hervorragenden Leistung bei der Rettung der Botschafter schlagen diese ihn für eine Auszeichnung vor. Lojal was there to discuss ongoing negotiations with Cardassia, the Maquis situation, and the Dominion threat. Before going on the show Lojal congratulated Scott on saving the USS Hood. (TNG - Strange New Worlds 9 short story: "Terra Tonight") In 2376, during the Gateways Crisis, Ambassador Lojal was freed up by the Federation Diplomatic Corps to convince the Tholians to join the major races in a meeting with the Iconians, who had supposedly returned.
