| - Oroku Saki was effectively the same character as his Oroku Saki in the Mirage continuity. Since he was killed by Leonardo Hamato in the events before thePrologue of Mutant Ninja Turtles Gaiden, he makes no live appearances in the story. However, Saki has additional backstory unique to MNT Gaiden. According to Karai's account in Chapter 21:The Curse of "Yamata-no-Orochi", Oroku Saki's treachery against Foot Clan authority began even before he rebelled against Karai's authority. Saki's older brother Oroku Nagi competed with Hamato Yoshi for the love of Tang Shen. When Shen turned down Nagi, Nagi almost beat her to death, but was himself killed by Yoshi in her defense. For this crime, Yoshi was expelled from the Foot Clan and both he and Shen went to New York City in exile. Saki sought revenge against Yoshi and Shen for his brother's death. He secretly stole the Totsuka Sword from the Foot Clan's possession, swapping it with an ordinary katana. Saki contracted the Curse of Yamata-no-Orochi in the process, but he was already so evil in his own right that the curse did not affect him. He put the sword in a package addressed to Hamato Yoshi, and shipped it off to New York. However, Saki's plan failed. The sword instead infected ordinary humans with the curse, forcing them to unleash their dark sides. One postal worker became a mail hoarder, and the package remained undelivered for years, never reaching Yoshi. Saki rose in the ranks of the Foot Clan, and was eventually appointed as leader of the New York branch, and rebelled against Karai's leadership, breaking the branch away from the Foot Clan's Japan-based power structure. Once in New York, Saki tracked down Yoshi and Shen directly and murdered them, and only their ninja-trained pet rat Hamato Splinter escaped. Splinter would eventually find himself and four baby turtles mutated, he would adopt them as his sons, train them in ninjutsu, and finally Saki was killed by Leonardo Hamato. Saki was also the respected leader of the Foot Elites, most of which would themselves be purged by a combined effort of Karai's Foot Clan and the mutant Hamato Clan during the City at War incident. The only survivor was Eikichi Gotoh, who managed to survive along with some of his own forces, essentially inheriting the leadership of the NYC Foot Clan once held by Oroku Saki.
