Biography
  • Johnny Ray is a former NASCAR driver from Eastaboga, AL. He competed in eight Sprint Cup Series events in his career. Ray's debut came in 1974, when he competed at Talladega. Starting 36th in the large field of fifty, Ray struggled in the race to a poor 41st place finish. He improved quite a bit in the fall race, showing 22nd. It would prove to be his career-best finish. Ray's next race came during the 1975 season, when he started the year back off at Talladega. After blowing his engine to finish 48th there, Ray began making races at other tracks. However, the results were the same. Engine failure took him out of every race that year, also leaving him 24th at Michigan, 30th at Daytona, and 40th at the fall Talladega race. Ray's final pair of races came during the 1976 season, when he trekked west to start the year off at Riverside. Engine failure took him out of a race yet again, finishing 31st. He then made a surprise appearence in the Daytona 500, crashing to 28th in what would prove to be his final career race. External Links *Stats
