abstract
| - Dye kits are items that can be used to change the colors of armor, cloaks, and helmets. The term can also refer to the item properties possessed by these items. Items can be colored as long as they are possessed by a player, provided the player is not involved in combat. There are 176 different colors available (the selection was expanded from 64 to this in the 1.67 patch), and six color "channels" (per item) to which colors can be assigned —cloth 1, cloth 2, leather 1, leather 2, metal 1, and metal 2. Corresponding to the six channels are the six "dye kit" item properties. It is the property used that controls which channel in the target item will be affected. A standard dye kit has two "dye kit" item properties, corresponding to one of the pairs of channels (cloth, leather, or metal). The color to which the channel will be set is given in the kit's name. (This is for convenience only; changing the dye kit's name will not change the color being set. The color is actually defined using the last three characters in the kit's tag.)
