  • "Our destiny isn't written in some book in the future. We write it ourselves, every day." Lana Lang, Legion "I know what I need to do with my life now. Life is so precious, so beautiful and to be able to protect that, that's an amazing gift." – Lana Lang, Requiem Lana was destined to lead a purposeful life and would do so by discovering and fulfilling her own destiny. Her journey started in high school and continued until she finally actualized it, just before she left town for good. However, Lana continued to embrace and fulfill her destiny out in the world, away from Smallville. This is the epic journey she made into becoming one of Earth's greatest superheroines. The relationship between Clark Kent and Lana Lang is truly extraordinary, which would lead Lana to her own destiny. Lana first became an important part of Clark's circle of friends when they began high school. Clark's feelings for her grew, and a tentative friendship blossomed, which eventually led to a relationship between the two. Lana often found herself in danger, with Clark regularly coming to her rescue, although she was not always aware of this. When Clark finally told Lana the truth about his extraterrestrial origins, she didn't reject him as he had always feared. Clark and Lana's relationship spanned much of the course of the show, and has been the source of both extreme happiness and extreme sorrow and heartbreak for both of them, because of their individual destinies. They ultimately parted forever, when Lana decided it was best for both of them for her to live her life and continue to fulfill her destiny, outside of Smallville.
