Lt. Col. John Burgess-Preston Karslake (10 February 1868 - 3 September 1942) was local politician active in the Paddington area. Born in St Pancras, he was the only son of Preston Karslake, a solicitor, and his wife Emilia née Garrard. He was educated at Eton and Oxford and was called to the bar at the Middle Temple in 1892. From 1895 he held a commission in the Berkshire Yeomanry, reaching the rank of lieutenant-colonel during the First World War. He was also a member of Paddington Borough Council, serving as Mayor of Paddington in 1937-38 and 1940. Articles in Who’s Who
