About: How are neurons different from other cells   Sponge Permalink

An Entity of Type : owl:Thing, within Data Space : 134.155.108.49:8890 associated with source dataset(s)

The common neurone has a different structure to a plant cell or an animal cell, having a sheath covering a long axon in the middle, with dendrites (branches) sprouting of at the tip to connect to other neurones (this is called a synapse). The nucleus is located in a special location normally on the right side of the neurone structure, where the main dell body is. Neurones are responsible for stimulants and depressants (stimulants increase the amount of transmitter chemicals passing across the synapse of two neurones, whole depressants increase the amount of different transmitter chemicals diffusing at some synapses, which as a result decreases the frequency of impulses set of at neurone 2.)
