The Parade of Sovereignties (Russian: Парад суверенитетов, Parad suverenitetov) was a political movement undertaken primarily by the republics and autonomous republics of the Soviet Union during the 1990s. The movement started simply as the original 15 republics demanded and declared greater sovereignties from Moscow, and soon evolved into a political movement by the unrepresented peoples of the Soviet Union. The movement was considered peaceful for the most part, but violence would break out between several regions (most noted were the from the Chechens and Tuvans).
